Dear members of the CCHS community,
An unacceptable and deplorable incident occurred in our building today, and we denounce it in no uncertain terms.
Late in the school day, it came to our attention that someone drew a swastika on a wall in the bathroom. A long-standing symbol of hate and oppression, the swastika, what it stands for, and the actions of the individual(s) who completed this heinous act have no place in our school. A full investigation is underway, and we promise swift and appropriate action when the investigation concludes.
We have made it clear that all students are to feel safe and welcome in our school. We are a school that stands for respect and inclusion. This reprehensible action is entirely inconsistent with our school values and beliefs.
"Our mission is to inspire our students to strive for and meet the highest levels of academic and personal achievement, while nurturing a respectful, supportive, engaged, curious, and passionate learning community."
I encourage all members of our school community to wake up every day with the intention of contributing to the well-being of others; intolerance, racism, anti-Semitism, and disrespect are not welcome here. We are committed to maintaining a school where all students are free to learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Mastrullo
Principal
