"Today marks the 18th anniversary of the worst terror attack on United States soil. A day that started like any ordinary day, and by 10 am on September 11th, 2001, life was forever changed. For those alive at the time, you likely remember where you were when you heard the horrific news. For those unborn or not old enough to remember that fateful day, you entered a world vastly different. This tragic day continues to influence our daily lives: how we travel, national debates of personal privacy vs. public safety continue, and American men and women of the armed forces continue to fight terrorism around the globe.
Today we honor the lives of the 246 people who perished on an airplane, the 2,606 who lost their lives at work, today we honor the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and eight paramedics who tragically lost their lives.
Be mindful today that someone you encounter may have lost someone close to them. Let’s honor the lives lost by being kind to each other, and telling those close to us how much we love them. At this time, we will take a brief moment of silence to remember those lost."
