Important Graduation Information

As outlined in a previous blog post, we are thrilled the state is permitting an in-person graduation ceremony and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow.  A collective experience that comes with a shared responsibility to ensure it is safe, orderly, and joyous.

In a typical year, we would rehearse with the students multiple times.  Like so many other moments, it was simply not possible.  Organizers of graduation did a walkthrough today, and I am providing some essential details for graduates.  Most, but not all, of this information was included in a previous blog post, so please read all the information below carefully.

As customary, after the speeches, we will read the names of all graduates.  Students received their diplomas in June, and tomorrow they will receive the accompanying sleeve for their diploma. This process will be contactless.  We will call students by row and they will line up to the left of the stage. There will be cones spaced 6 feet apart designating where to stand.  The sleeves for the diplomas will be on a table to the left of the stage.  Students need to grab one while waiting for their name to be called.

I) The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 will occur tomorrow, 19 July, at 9:00 am.  Due to the forecast, we may begin the ceremony early.  The last arrival time for guests is 8:20, so once all guests are seated, the ceremony will begin.

a) Personal Items
Programs, masks, and one bottler of water will be located below the seats when you arrive. Please arrive with your own mask. You are welcome to bring a hat, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer, but please do not bring an umbrella as it will restrict the view of other guests.

b) Arrival Time
Please arrive at the appropriate time (see below)

c) Each graduate is permitted two guests
Additional guests are not permitted, and seats are not available. The grandstands are for CCHS staff only.

d) All attendees are required to wear a mask

The Governors Office and the Massachusetts Department of Education require all attendees wear a mask.  Masks for students are provided and will be placed on their seats.  Please wear a mask upon entry to the facility.

d) Graduation Seating

All students received their seating assignments on Thursday.  All chairs are labeled. Graduates and their two guests will be seated in triads on the turf of the stadium field.

e) Dismissal
Following the graduation ceremony, graduates and guests will be dismissed by row to proceed back to their vehicles. Please exit through the same entrance you arrived through. No one is allowed to congregate on the field following the ceremony.

f) Graduation Parking
To maintain proper social distancing, all graduates and families are required to arrive at their given time and park in their assigned location as designated in this document.  The location number corresponds to the graphic above.

19 July Graduation Information: Time Change to 9am

All,

I am writing to provide an update on graduation.  The forecast looks promising with sun anticipated and little chance of precipitation, but the forecast is also very warm.  For this reason, we are moving the ceremony up one hour.  Graduation will begin promptly at 9am.

We will send an update later this week with the revised arrival times; however, please plan to arrive one hour earlier than initially communicated.  Further, masks will be provided to students.  They will be placed on the student's seat; however, all students and their two guests must arrive with a mask on per the state guidelines.  As noted, we will communicate over the coming days, but I wanted to provide notification to ensure ample time to prepare for the time change.  My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Important: 19 July Graduation Information

Graduation Information and Reminders - 9 July 2020

As the graduation ceremony approaches, we are excited to welcome members of the Class of 2020 back to campus.  We will celebrate their accomplishment of graduating from high school while enjoying a brief moment in time together as a class for the last time.

With the stolen memories of spring behind the great Class of 2020, it is our sincere hope that this graduation ceremony will bring a smile to your face, a smile, and maybe a tear, to the eyes of your guests, and bring closure to the end of your k-12 school experience that ended in a manner nobody could have imagined just a few months ago.  There is no script......

I can't wait to see you all and celebrate with you on this momentous day.  Please read the essential details below.

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 will occur on Sunday, 19 July, at 10:00 am.

As outlined in a previous blog post, we are thrilled the state is permitting an in-person graduation ceremony.  A collective experience that comes with a shared responsibility to ensure it is safe, orderly, and joyous.  Please read carefully and follow the guidelines.

1) Each graduate is permitted two guests.
Additional guests are not permitted, and seats are not available.

2) All attendees are required to wear a mask.
The Governors Office and the Massachusetts Department of Education require all attendees wear a mask.  Masks for students are provided and will be placed on their seats.  Please wear a mask upon entry to the facility.

3) Rain Date(s)
Given that all graduations must be held outdoors, the rain date(s) for the ceremony will be the first subsequent day with appropriate weather (Monday, 20 July, then Tuesday, 21 July, then Wednesday, 22 July, etc.).  We will provide updates to the members of the Class of 2020 the night before the prospective graduation date.  We deserve a beautiful, sunny day on 19 July, so fingers crossed it arrives.

The following is a list of additional reminders and important information:

Graduation Pronunciation - Flip Grid
Given that there will not be a graduation rehearsal this year, each graduate is requested to submit a file with the correct pronunciation of their name via flipgrid: https://flipgrid.com/cchsclassof2020

In your recording, please say your name four times precisely as you would like it to be pronounced on graduation day (remember to include first, last, and middle names are desired).  Additionally, please save your file with both your first and last names.  Please complete this by Tuesday, 14 July, at 11:59 pm.

Graduation Attendance
Any student NOT attending the ceremony, please complete this form so we can create an accurate seating chart.  Please complete this form by Tuesday, 14 July, at 11:59 pm.  Additionally, we would like to find a separate way to celebrate this milestone for any members of the Class of 2020, unable to attend the graduation ceremony.

Graduation Seating
All graduates and their two guests will be seated in triads on the turf of the stadium field.  The picture below provides a visual of the seating arrangement.  By Friday, 17 July, a seating chart will be shared with all graduates and families, so attendees know exactly where to sit when they arrive.

Example of how students and their two guests will be seated on the field.

We ask that all guests proceed directly to their seats upon arrival. The graphic below highlights the overall set up of the event along with showing families which entrance they should use to enter (based on parking location).
