Important: 19 July Graduation Information

Graduation Information and Reminders - 9 July 2020

As the graduation ceremony approaches, we are excited to welcome members of the Class of 2020 back to campus.  We will celebrate their accomplishment of graduating from high school while enjoying a brief moment in time together as a class for the last time.

With the stolen memories of spring behind the great Class of 2020, it is our sincere hope that this graduation ceremony will bring a smile to your face, a smile, and maybe a tear, to the eyes of your guests, and bring closure to the end of your k-12 school experience that ended in a manner nobody could have imagined just a few months ago.  There is no script......

I can't wait to see you all and celebrate with you on this momentous day.  Please read the essential details below.

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 will occur on Sunday, 19 July, at 10:00 am.

As outlined in a previous blog post, we are thrilled the state is permitting an in-person graduation ceremony.  A collective experience that comes with a shared responsibility to ensure it is safe, orderly, and joyous.  Please read carefully and follow the guidelines.

1) Each graduate is permitted two guests.
Additional guests are not permitted, and seats are not available.

2) All attendees are required to wear a mask.
The Governors Office and the Massachusetts Department of Education require all attendees wear a mask.  Masks for students are provided and will be placed on their seats.  Please wear a mask upon entry to the facility.

3) Rain Date(s)
Given that all graduations must be held outdoors, the rain date(s) for the ceremony will be the first subsequent day with appropriate weather (Monday, 20 July, then Tuesday, 21 July, then Wednesday, 22 July, etc.).  We will provide updates to the members of the Class of 2020 the night before the prospective graduation date.  We deserve a beautiful, sunny day on 19 July, so fingers crossed it arrives.

The following is a list of additional reminders and important information:

Graduation Pronunciation - Flip Grid
Given that there will not be a graduation rehearsal this year, each graduate is requested to submit a file with the correct pronunciation of their name via flipgrid: https://flipgrid.com/cchsclassof2020

In your recording, please say your name four times precisely as you would like it to be pronounced on graduation day (remember to include first, last, and middle names are desired).  Additionally, please save your file with both your first and last names.  Please complete this by Tuesday, 14 July, at 11:59 pm.

Graduation Attendance
Any student NOT attending the ceremony, please complete this form so we can create an accurate seating chart.  Please complete this form by Tuesday, 14 July, at 11:59 pm.  Additionally, we would like to find a separate way to celebrate this milestone for any members of the Class of 2020, unable to attend the graduation ceremony.

Graduation Seating
All graduates and their two guests will be seated in triads on the turf of the stadium field.  The picture below provides a visual of the seating arrangement.  By Friday, 17 July, a seating chart will be shared with all graduates and families, so attendees know exactly where to sit when they arrive.

Example of how students and their two guests will be seated on the field.

We ask that all guests proceed directly to their seats upon arrival. The graphic below highlights the overall set up of the event along with showing families which entrance they should use to enter (based on parking location).

Graduation Parking
To maintain proper social distancing, all graduates and families are required to arrive at their given time and park in their assigned location as designated in this document.  The location number corresponds to the graphic above.

Graduation Pictures
For proper social distancing, all graduates and guests must remain in their assigned seats during the ceremony.  Graduates will be called up one row at a time to receive their diplomas.  Students received their official diploma in June.  At the graduation ceremony, they will retrieve the corresponding sleeve that houses the diploma from the table.

A professional photographer will be on-site to take pictures.  Guests may not approach the stage to take a picture.  The professional photographs will be available following graduation. Details to access the images will be emailed at a later date.
