Principal's Blog: CCHS Incident

I am including an important message sent by Superintendent, Diana Rigby.  Please read it carefully.  As she clearly articulated, safety is of the utmost importance, and it remains our chief priority. We will continue to be steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the security of all students and staff.

Today I reminded students that if they hear something, they should say something.  It is not their job to investigate or determine if a threat is real or severe.  It is their obligation to immediately report the incident to an adult in the building.  I also reminded them that schools are, and will remain an extremely safe place.

Three necessary components of any successful school system are safety, organization, and high expectations for teaching and learning.  Safety resides at the top of that list.  Our school excels in many areas, but the relationships and connections between students and staff are the lifeblood of this school.

We will not yield and safety will always remain the highest priority; however, relationship building, connections with students, and compassion all contribute to a safe learning environment.  These are areas of strength at CCHS.

Warmly,

Michael J. Mastrullo
Principal

An important message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred at CCHS yesterday.  Due to the vigilance of CCHS staff, CCHS Principal Mike Mastrullo was notified yesterday afternoon that a CCHS student had written serious threats against members of the CCHS community.

Principal Mastrullo and his team responded immediately by instantly removing the student for hospitalization and requesting assistance from School Resource Officer Scott Camilleri and the Concord Police.  The student has been arrested and he will not return to CCHS.  All involved parties have been notified and informed of the school's response.

School safety for our students and staff is paramount and it is always our top priority. Principal Mastrullo and his team are commended for their immediate actions and ongoing efforts to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at CCHS.  We also appreciate our collaboration with Concord Police, Chief O'Connor, and School Resource Officer, Det. Scott Camilleri.

Thanks.

Diana Rigby, Superintendent
