Dear CCHS Community,
I write with a few calendar reminders about upcoming events and dates. Please read on for relevant information on upcoming events including a Multi-Cultural Food Festival tomorrow night at CCHS and a METCO Advocacy event scheduled for 19 March.
Week of March 11
- Monday, March 11 - We have school on Monday, March 11. We first notified the community of the school calendar change in the 13 December Blog Post, so please review that prior announcement for additional information.
- The School Committee formally made the change in late 2018. We will follow a regular Monday schedule on 11 March.
- With the snow day earlier this week, the last day of school for students is Friday, June 14 and the last day for teachers is Monday, June 17.
- Tuesday, March 12 - we have an extended advisory (schedule here). Freshmen and sophomores will view the Thurgood Marshall, juniors will hear from an admissions officer from Holy Cross, and seniors will participate in a reality fair.
- Wednesday, March 13 - no advisory.
Week of March 25
- Tuesday & Wednesday, March 26 and 27 - All sophomores will participate in the ELA MCAS (schedule here)
- There will be no homework for sophomores the two nights before these MCAS dates, and no assessments may be given in class for sophomores on March 26 and 27. This coincides with the last week of Quarter 3, so please plan accordingly.
- Friday, March 29 - Sunday, March 31 - Is a No School Work Weekend. This weekend follows the close of Q3 and no homework will be assigned this weekend. This is an opportunity for everyone to take a quick pause before the last quarter of the year.
Multi-Cultural Food Festival Tomorrow Night
Multi-Cultural Food Festival Video
We have more than 80 people attending as of today, 6 March. To date, food from over 45 different countries will be served.
The event is tomorrow, March 7th, from 6:00 - 7:30, and all are welcome including families.
Many thanks to Ray Pavlik and all staff and students who helped organize a fantastic community event.
METCO Advocacy Day & Other Information
By Andrew Nyamekye
Please check out the video created by Andrew on a CCHS project on Dr. Martin Luther King.
METCO Advocacy Day, an opportunity for stakeholders to raise their voice for school integration and educational equity, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2019 (see event flyer below).
Please be advised that the state's budget debate begins in April, so participation from supporters of METCO is imperative so that METCO receives adequate funding. For our district's (Concord and Concord-Carlisle) representation at METCO Advocacy Day, I am asking teachers, support staff, students, and families to join me at the State House on March 19th. If you are interested in attending METCO Advocacy Day, please RSVP HERE.

Please note that public funds cannot be used to promote lobbying efforts; therefore, no resources will be committed to transporting attendees from our school district to the State House. Families are more than welcomed to coordinate transportation through their own financial means and resources to accommodate folks in the community who plan to attend METCO Advocacy Day.
Additionally, I would also greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to meet with Legislators, and our elected State Representative, Tami L. Gouveia, who represents the 14th Middlesex District (consisting of Acton: Precincts 1, 2, 6; Carlisle; Chelmsford: Precincts 1, 9; Concord). Please visit metcoinc.org/advocacy to request an appointment with Legislators and with Representative Gouveia.
If you need help with scheduling your own meeting or plan on attending with other guests for your personal outreach, please get in touch with METCO, Inc. lobbyists at Charles Group, and they will be happy to help coordinate your advocacy efforts. You can email Charlotte Boghossian at cboghossian@
I hope to see you on March 19th at the Massachusetts State House, 2nd Floor. METCO RALLY begins at 9:00 a.m. in Nurse’s Hall and the Grand Staircase. Legislator/
