Important Information: Parking on Campus

 Parking on Campus

Please see the message that was sent to students by Ms. Stahl regarding parking on campus:

Good afternoon students,

Please do not drive or park on campus until after June 3rd. Our seniors' last day of classes is tomorrow, however, they have graduation rehearsals and senior events Friday and all next week. They are entitled to their parking spaces until they graduate. Only students who have valid parking permits are permitted to park on campus. I saw many juniors parking on campus during my drive into the building this morning. This caused disruptions to the school day today, and we do not want it to continue.

Please know that cars will be towed.  Please do your part to respect our Seniors’ privileges in their final days of high school. I know you will feel the same way when it is your turn.

Make good choices!

- Ms. Stahl
CCHS, Co-Principal

Teacher Appreciation Week Success

We had a great time celebrating our faculty and Staff for Teacher Appreciation Week last week. We are so appreciative of the parents who donated the items for the teacher goodie bags raffle, the coffee and munchkins for the breakfast, and to the Parent Association and all of the parent volunteers who donated their time, baked goods, and delicious snacks to our amazing snack bar on Friday! We have such an amazing community of families, and our faculty and staff definitely felt the love! In addition to all of these goodies we had two teachers, Alex Brown and Hollie Haycock, who won the Principal parking space raffle for the week. We also had Madeline Pooler and Rebecca Mahoney win the prize of having Ms. Stahl and Mr. Miller cover a class/duty of their choice. Thanks again for helping to make it such a special and fun week!

CCHS' Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Day - FRIDAY, MAY 19, 2023

On May 3, Massachusetts kicked off its Spring Walk, Bike, & Roll program. CCHS will participate in this year's bike-to-school (or walk-to-school) day on FRIDAY, MAY 19. Massachusetts Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day is celebrated annually across the state in May as part of the MassDOT Safe Routes to School initiative. The idea of Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Days is to encourage physical activity, foster community, reduce traffic congestion, reduce carbon emissions, get families outside, and/or inspire independence.

Let's show our support for this great program by participating in this
annual celebration on May 19, 2023!

Michelle Gu

Congratulations to Michelle Gu for placing FIRST in Group IV of the Junior Duck Stamp contest. All the student’s art was outstanding, and the judges had their work cut out for them! Overall, 185 entries were received. Beautiful work, Michelle!

Anastasia Porfido

Congratulations, Anastasia Porfido for being awarded the GOLD level Graduating Seniors Award. The Graduating Seniors Program recognizes those student-athletes who have worked hard to pursue figure skating while maintaining their academics. While figure skating is not a traditional school sport, it requires the same dedication, perseverance, and time management as any varsity sport. It is the goal of U.S. Figure Skating to help ensure these student-athletes are recognized for those skills. From everyone at CCHS, congratulations, Anastasia!

Bands, Choir, and Orchestra SWEEP at MICCA

On March 31 and April 1, the CCHS Select Choir, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Concert Band competed at the MICCA Concert Festivals at Westborough HS and Danvers HS. We are so proud to share that ALL FOUR GROUPS earned a Gold Medal - the highest possible rating! Please join us in celebrating this incredible achievement by our student musicians!

A little about the experience:

Groups perform a concert program for a panel of judges (a combination of college/university conductors and retired music educators of the highest quality) and are scored according to a rubric. We receive written and recorded feedback from all three judges and following the performance students participate in a workshop with one of the adjudicators. This year Select Choir worked with Catherine Connor-Moen (retired Norwood Director of Performing Arts), our bands worked with Dr. David Hedgecoth (Ohio State University) and our orchestra worked with Dr. Steven Benham (Duquesne University).

Kaden Lewis

Congratulations to CCHS’ own, Kaden Lewis, who raised over $30,000 for Parkinson’s Research! CCHS is very proud of your commitment and hard work. Way to go, Kaden!

New Administrators Announcement

We are writing to let you know that we have finalized our hiring for our Administrative Team. We are thrilled to announce that we have hired two new Assistant Principals. They are:

Meghan Maines, Assistant Principal of Student Life

Darius Green, Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

When we started the hiring process for these positions, we were looking for a Dean of Students and an Assistant Principal. After going through the process, we decided the school would be best served by having an Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction and an Assistant Principal of Student Life. We can't wait for Meghan and Darius to officially join our team on July 1st.  We hope to arrange a time for them to come to CCHS prior to the end of the year.

Thank you to the faculty, staff, and students who participated on the hiring committees. We are so appreciative of your time and input.

A Message From Our New Administrators

Meghan Maines

Dear Concord-Carlisle Community,

From the moment I stepped over the threshold of Concord-Carlisle High School it was clear I had found a special place. From the bright and welcoming foyer, to the students hard at work in the library, to the dedicated staff in the front office sorting out a new parking pass it was evident that this was a community I wanted to join. This feeling carried through my interviews where I had the pleasure of meeting dedicated, thoughtful faculty and curious, engaging students. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve this community as an Assistant Principal of Student Life.

For the past two years, I have served as the Assistant Principal at Wayland Middle School. Prior to joining the Wayland team, I spent six years as a Dean, Assistant Principal, and Principal at Success Academy Charter Schools in Harlem, New York, and taught world history at Phoenix Academy in Lawrence. I earned my B.A. in History from Occidental College and hold an M.A. in Education Policy from Teachers College, Columbia University.

As a lifelong learner, I am eager to join the inspiring leadership team at Concord-Carlisle High School, where I know I will continue to grow. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of your community and look forward to meeting you all in person soon.

Respectfully,

Meghan Maines

Dr. Darius S. Green

Dear Concord Carlisle School Community,

I am so excited and ecstatic to be joining the wonderful community of students, parents, guardians, and staff of Concord Carlisle High School that I am nearly speechless. I look forward to having open and honest dialogue with each and everyone of you as we navigate the complexities and intricacies of the high school experience. Over the next few months, I am hoping to hear and share our stories in order create a deeper sense of belonging to the school, the community, and to each other.

It is with great honor that I was selected as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction.  I come to you having worked my way up from a teaching assistant of three years at Boston Community Academy and Boston Latin School, to a high school math teacher of ten years at Boston Hyde Park High School, Boston Engineering School, and Boston English High School. I then transitioned to administration as an Assistant Principal at Somerville High School for ten years and most recently as Associate Principal at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School for the last three years.

This journey began after earning two Bachelor Degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, one in History and another in Psychology.  Beyond the undergraduate degrees, I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College and a Doctoral Degree in Law and Policy from Northeastern University.  I share this with you as a testament of my belief in lifelong learning and a relentless pursuit in personal and professional development.

What we choose to learn and how we learn is individual to each of us and that is what I appreciate about my role as a high school administrator.  I am very excited to be joining the Concord Carlisle team and their efforts to guiding our young scholars in finding what they love to do and supporting their success on how to achieve it.

Sincerely,

Dr. Darius S. Green
