Flex Block Trial - Thursday, June 8
As you are aware, we will have a new Bell Schedule next academic year. This blog post outlines the rationale, process, and details of the change.
One of the most significant benefits to our schedule is the addition of two 56-min flex blocks per week. Flex is a time when students can schedule themselves to meet with a teacher to get extra help, collaborate with a classmate, make up a test, go to the band room for extra practice, enjoy time in the gym, read a book in the library or complete homework in a classroom. Additionally, flex blocks will be a time when a teacher can require a student to come for extra help to either clarify a misconception or provide a small-group and focused learning experience.
On Thursday, June 8, we will be having a trial run. The bell schedule for Thursday can be found here. All students are required to sign up for a flex block and should have done so by the end of the day today (Tuesday, June 6). Embedded English Update
Thank you to those who took the time to fill out the English survey about embedded leveling for next year’s English classes. We read and considered all of the feedback we received. We will be moving forward with a pilot of embedded leveling English for our full-year courses, 9th grade English and 10th grade English, as well as the first semester of 11th grade and 12th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. We will seek feedback from faculty and students next year. The English Department looks forward to working with your students and continuing to inspire their love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
End-of-Year Information
As the academic year winds down, there are still a few important steps between now and the last day of school. The two documents below outline key dates and the final exam schedule
Students should plan to return all of their textbooks and materials to their teachers at the end of their exam block. Additionally, all students must return their laptops and charging cords to IT by 2:30 PM on Wednesday, June 14.
